Scott grew up in Bay Shore surrounded by historic homes. He was inspired to start his own carpentry business after seeing a need for preservation services in the area.
Scott was inspired to learn to his craft through curiosity and perfected it through experience with discerning clients. His ongoing education includes New York University, South Street Seaport workshops, Tom Clagett Boat Shed workshops, and the Timber Framing Academy in Tennessee. He continues to learn daily.
Over four decades ago, Scott focused his start as a wooden boat carpenter doing extensive repairs and restorations. Antique Carpenters now specializes in restoring historic properties, landmarks and churches, sleighs, popcorn wagons, carts, antique automobiles, boats and traditional timber framing structures in the Tri-state New York metropolitan area. He also specializes in restoring missing elements such as sash work, inlays, copper work, corbels, gingerbread, stair elements and finials. His large and well appointed woodshop is located in Bay Shore, New York.
During his career, Scott has worked on countless historic sites and restored hundreds of old homes, transforming and reviving properties dating from the 18th century, while maintaining their distinctive character.
Scott is known for creating solutions on projects that others say cannot be done. His creative problem solving and versatilely has defined his reputation.
